Inspiration and source material for drawings
We used the repetitive industrial elements of the trainyard to create perspective drawings from which we would glean key elements of our buildings

Diagramming the site
The site for the arts complex is in the heart of the Princeton University campus at the end of the Dinky line

Final conflated perspective drawing
This final digital drawing is a conflation of two 24" x 36" drawings: one in graphite and charcoal, the other in ink. Elements were reflected, repeated, rotated, and masked to create an entirely new scene with a tension between the infinite utopian horizon and the collapsing of elements into a dense solid

Toward the infinite horizon
The buildings are skewed and pinched to accentuate the perspective into the infinite

Light and shadow
This project was a collaboration with classmate K. T. Anthony Chan. Operating within an experimental studio investigating the historic development of the techniques of perspectival representation, the Princeton Creative Arts Center proposal stems from the ethos captured in an initial series of hand drawing studies. Elements of rhythm, repetition, intersection, and qualities of light are mined from the original drawing and brought into the architecture of the site. The program includes Experimental Media studios and labs, black box theater, concert hall, the relocated Dinky train station, and new contemporary arts galleries.
